Aleksandra Kubiak (born 1978) – is a visual artist, performer, filmmaker, and creator of spatial forms. She investigates the social impact of art. From 2001 to 2013, she co-founded the Chief Judge Group with Karolina Wiktor. In 2010, she resumed her solo career and made the film “Dolce Vita” (2011). A two-time scholarship holder of the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage. With the Chief Judge Group, she was nominated for the Polityka Passport Award (2011) and Viewsawards (2007). The group was awarded at the International Performance Competition in Trento, Italy (2007), and the TVP Kultura [Polish Television Culture] Award (2005). Since 2014, Kubiak has been working on an autobiographical series, blending often difficult personal experiences with experiments in film, performance, and documentary theatre. She collaborates with actors and also writes scripts, directs, and pens texts. Her series includes works such as “You’re So Pretty, Doll” with actress Elżbieta Lisowska-Kopeć, “Elephant’s Meat” with Monika Buchowiec, actress at the Kazimierz Dejmek Theatre in Łódź, and “Live, Fool!” with Artur Beling. In 2016, Kubiak earned her PhD in Arts under the supervision of Professor Izabella Gustowska, in collaboration with Professor Marek Wasilewski, at the University of Arts in Poznań. Since 2017, she has worked at the Institute of Visual Arts at the University of Zielona Góra. Kubiak resides in Zielona Góra, where she collaborates with the Salony Foundation and BWA Gallery.
